Debora Mayer

Debora Mayer graduated from WUDPAC in 1982, with a M.S. degree in Paper Conservation. Her professional experiences include an internship at the Fogg Art Museum-Center for Conservation and Technical Studies at Harvard University, Assistant Paper Conservator at the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts in Philadelphia, and Associate Paper Conservator at the Winterthur Museum. Currently, Mayer is the principal of a private paper conservation studio in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She is specializing in the preservation of paper artifacts including consultation, treatment, and analysis of materials - particularly fiber analysis. She services cultural institutions and private collectors throughout New England. She has written articles on material identification including the analysis of red chalk and fiber microscopy. Mayer has received awards from the National Museum Act and The Carolyn Horton Fund of the American Institute for Conservation to study paper and fiber microscopy. She is a Fellow of the American Institute for Conservation and has served in the Book and Paper Group, the Photographic Materials Group, and on the Education and Training Committee. Mayer returns annually to WUDPAC to teach fiber microscopy.
