October 7, 2009 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Winterthur Museum, Rotunda

Students interested in applying to the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation (WUPAC) should not miss this insightful career opportunity. On October 7, 2009, the program will host its annual Portfolio Day, in which the entering class of graduate students shares their pre-program experiences, art work, and résumés. Students will be able to engage with graduate students. Potential applicants are welcomed to ask the current conservation fellows questions and get an idea of the process involved in applying to graduate school for art conservation. Faculty will also be on hand to answer questions.

This year’s guest speaker will be Art Conservation Fellow Lauren Bradley who will speak on her work with the Barnes Foundation, under the guidance of Painting Conservator Barbara Buckley, and her technical studies of expressionist painter Chaim Soutine.

At the end of Lauren’s presentation, interested students and visitors are invited to tour the conservation labs in the Winterthur Research Building. The following labs will be open: painting, paper/photograph, objects conservation, and the analytical labs. Current WUDPAC students will be available in the labs to explain their current conservation projects.

Refreshments will be available. Please RSVP for this event by Friday, September 30, 2009 by e-mailing Susan Behrens at behrens@udel.edu.
