Congratulations Class of 2008!

Saturday, May 31, 2008 the Department of Art Conservation celebrated the graduation of 16 undergraduate art conservation majors. Along with their coursework in chemistry, art history, studio art, art conservation, and material culture studies this year’s class interned at a variety of wonderful cultural institutions to complement their classroom experiences. Internship hosts included the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Mutter Museum, the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, Winterthur Museum, Hagley Museum and Library, the New Castle Historical Society, and the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum.
Three of the graduates will continue their academic careers in graduate programs at the University of North Carolina, program in Interior Architecture, the Corcoran College of Art and Design, and the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation. Many others have found permanent or summer positions in conservation laboratories and cultural institutions including the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts, A Conservative Approach, the Center for Historic Architecture and Design at the University of Delaware, the Hagley Museum and Library and The McFaddin-Ward House. We congratulate them on their many successes while at the University and wish them continued success in all their future endeavors.
