The Juming Museum is seeking a short term metal conservator who is an expert for outdoor sculpture conservation. The period of visiting is flexible, preferably during the winter of 2009 or the spring of 2010.
Ju Ming is the most successful sculptor in Asia who is born in Taiwan. His work ranges from small carved wooden sculpture to permanently-sited outdoor artworks. The Juming Museum houses mostly Ju Mings work and other important contemporary Taiwanese artworks. The museum is in the process of developing a Restoration Center therefore is looking for many technical and educational cooperation and exchange opportunities in the future.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be invited to Taipei, and will work as a consultant and will be responsible for examination, treatment proposals, minor treatments of Ju Mings copper sculptures (copper and dyes) and advisory on future development of metal conservation work at the museum. The duration of stay is negotiable.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Professional training
- Minimum 3 years experience in sculpture conservation
- Experience in outdoor metal sculpture conservation
- English speaking, writing and communication skills
- Willingness to travel to Taiwan and interested in multi-cultural environment
Length of Position: short term
Compensation:
Euro1000-2000 for one to two weeks plus airfare, accommodation and other benefits.
